Algerian Army Shoots Sahrawi Refugees in Tindouf Camps

Rabat – The Algerian army (ANP) shot dead two Sahrawi Refugees of Tindouf Camps on the night of Saturday, 20-21 November, according to local reports.

The two Saharawi civilians from the Sellam Reguibat tribe, were Lakbir Ould Sid Ahmed Ould El Markhi and Mohamed Fadel Ould Ould Chaghibine. According to reports, the incident occurred 5 km West of Tindouf camps.

This is not the first time that the Algerian soldiers have been accused of such crimes against Tindouf camp’s refugees. Over the past 5 years, no less than twenty Saharawi victims have been killed by the ANP.

This new incident may inflame the situation in the Tindouf camps, especially as the refugees are protesting against violation of the human rights.

In this regard, the international community is denouncing the repeated abuses committed by the Algerian army on the refugees in the Tindouf Camps. (PERSISMA/Red)
